Finding Inspiration in Every Memory

The memories of those who have left us never truly fade away. We cherish their lives and the impact they had on us. This tribute page is dedicated to honoring the legacy of our beloved deceased members, who will always hold a special place in our hearts. Through their dedication, service, and kind hearts, they have left an indelible mark on our community. In this tribute, we celebrate their lives, their accomplishments, and their legacy. Join us as we cherish the memories of those who have gone before us, and may their spirit continue to inspire us all.

Sonia J. Bowman:Sonia was a community organizer at heart and a faithful, lifelong member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Marion, In. She was a founding member of People Against Illegal Narcotics (P.A.I.N.). She was also a founding member and President of the Center City Neighborhood Association where she organized community block parties, clean-up and National Night Out. Sonia was a member of the Mayor's President Council, and at nearly 90 years old, she was honored "Champion of the Month" by Mayor Jess Alumbaugh on July 21, 2017.

James H. "Perk" Perkins:  James enjoyed golfing and playing in local tournaments. He also participated on bowling leagues and regularly worked out at the YMCA. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.

Willa Green: Willa retired from Marion General Hospital, where she was a laboratory histologist. She was a member of Bethel AME Church and served on the boards of both the Literacy Council and the YMCA.

Rev. Therrie Bernard Williams III: Rev. Therrie  was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Therrie worked as a Home Health Aid and was a local minister at Providence AME Church in Indianapolis. Therrie was the Pastor at Waymon Lyles Station in Princeton, Indiana, and a Local Minster at Bethel AME in Marion, IN
